South Africa- Prints MOMA

Highlights:

Diane Victor's Disasters of Peace series:

note the framing and text within the image. The print serious is harshly printed often with small smudges at the edges of the pressing. These smudges reminded of the hands of the printer, black outlines on their nails and stained palms, providing a nice pairing with the hands of those depicted.

if goya's disasters and middle school class annotations

Awesomely raw and political Bitter Komix the journal of satical and crude south african voices.

goya even makes another appearence... Could there be something about this Spanish artist that made a big impact on this generation?

Gaugin- Maker of Myth

National Gallery, Washington D.C. 2011

Exhibition collaboration with the TATE

I have never been a fan, and I'm still not. The exhibition was set up to expose the myths that Gauguin created surrounding his work. I think you can add this view to any major artist with a large enough body of work. You only have one set of eyes and the artist dissects the world from their perspective.
Gauguin, well yeah his symbolism and impressionist style sure was innovative in his time..but why look at it now. This exhibition was more like an artist lesson it did not connect with it i current times. If we see this exhibition in 5o years it could be the same.
Myth is when nothing is precise, there is no equal and opposite reaction.

Actually the Myth that I experience is that of my not very Polynesian roommates being obnoxious

Ch.ACO 2010

After the long trip to la beautiful casa Lo Matta in Vitacura. I got to CH.ACO. Lets start with the general: I was not so dissatisfied because that is too strong a reaction, it was eh. Neither here nor there, any of excitement was frequently met with a sigh around the corner.
They were there too, of course, commercial galleries that plastered the space with dinky paintings. These rodentia of galleries were accompanied by some big mammals. The notable galleries in Santiago were showing a collections which have gotten pretty strong and internationally renown. Animal, showed their Sala 0, where as its numerical value implicates about to bloom. Included were Gabriel Schkolnick's 3AM series, still warm from the Centro Cultural Palacio la Moneda Exhibition. I was really interested in Animal's space just because the artists were surpased the beyond the overall standard of work. Though surprisingly commercial, it was clear in its international standard presentation that this group was a bigger fish in the see. (its only fitting to use zoological refrences when discussing Galeria Animal) I would say that Animal's artists are very grounded and then in method have a cheeky process that is smart and inventive.
-excuse me, I'm just going to sit in the Ch.Aco lounge for a moment and have a coffee.-
After the recharge. Heading to the university spaces where Andres Bello and Universidad Finis Terrae had narrow hallways to show their most notable students. These students aren't dumb, they are mature artists that clearly took the opportunity to be in the fair seriously.
After all of that its time for another coffee.
